How Taking Write Of Passage Was the Key to Growing Julia Saxena's Audience

Tell us about yourself

Hi, I’m Julia. And I help experts scale their impact with cohort-based courses.

As a copywriter, I work with course creators to pack their cohorts with their ideal students and help them deliver a transformational learning experience.

Over the last year, I’ve become obsessed with cohort-based courses because I've experienced how transformative and life-changing they can be. In fact, I wouldn't be where I am today without them.

That’s why I believe the world needs more courses that put community, action, and personal growth first.

I’m also the course manager for Minimum Viable Video, where we help professionals get comfortable on camera and accelerate their careers and grow their businesses using videos.

Before starting my own business, I’ve worked for 10 years in the corporate world as a Project Manager. I have an MBA and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.

Fun fact: I love to travel! I’ve been to 45 countries so far and lived and worked in 8.

What content do you produce?

I write about 3 topics: copywriting, online courses, and productivity...and the intersection between them.

My favorite format has become the atomic essay. I publish them daily on Twitter.

The best atomic essays of the week, together with insightful content from other creators, make it into my weekly newsletter.

I’ve also written long-form essays on my blog and experimented with videos.

How have you grown your audience?

I only started publishing online after taking Write of Passage in July 2020.

And what made all the difference for me was: Consistency.

I noticed that when I consistently share my ideas every day on Twitter and every week in my newsletter, I see my follower and subscriber growth speeding up.

I also believe in sharing everything I know and learn publicly. There’s no holding back. That’s why I’m always looking to create ways to help course creators.

One resource that’s already available is my free checklist to help course creators launch and run their cohort-based course without overwhelm.

And few other resources are in the works ;)

How have you monetised (or plan to)?

I’m fully focused on building an audience first. Every day, I’m learning more about what course creators are struggling with and how I can help them. That has already resulted in new consulting projects for me.

But eventually, I’d like to launch products that can scale beyond 1:1 consulting.
